About van ness publishing co.

Van Ness Publishing Co., originally founded by Dr. James Van Ness Durlacher (1927-2014), now continues under a new generation with the same goal: to bring clarity, structure, and purpose to ideas worth preserving. Rooted in a family history of research, practice, and writing, we produce work devoted to clear, evidence-based understanding. Our focus is on publishing projects that are informed, practical, and built to leave a lasting contribution.

We publish our own works as well as select projects from others whose ideas align with our mission: work that is grounded, intentional, and built to last. If you’re interested in collaborating or submitting a project, the direct contact button below will take you right to us.

WHERE WE BEGAN

Van Ness Pub is rooted in concepts that developed through decades of clinical work, inquiry, and observation by James Van Ness “J.V” Durlacher (1927–2014). His life spanned periods of profound social and medical change, including World War II and the Vietnam era. He served in the United States Air Force, an experience that existed alongside his lifelong pursuit of understanding health and the human body.

He later earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1963, graduating as valedictorian. Over more than forty years in practice, he developed an integrative approach to care that treated the body as a connected system shaped by structure, physiology, and psychological experience rather than isolated symptoms.

His work emphasized careful observation, pattern recognition, and attention to how stress and adaptation accumulate over time. He believed the body communicates across multiple layers and that meaningful health work requires listening to those signals. This perspective guided his clinical practice as well as his writing, teaching, and international lectures.

Van Ness Pub carries this foundation forward. The name represents a commitment to interdisciplinary thinking, careful interpretation, and respect for the body’s capacity to store information, adapt, and respond. The work published and supported under the Van Ness name continues this orientation, applying it to contemporary research, writing, and education.

Our Approach

We bring together research, experience, and precise communication to create work that is both informative and enduring. Each project follows a structured process that maintains scientific integrity and clarity.

Design

This is where direction is established. Research, experience, and intent are shaped into a clear framework before development begins.

Develop

Shaping ideas into structure happens here. This is the stage where direction becomes clear, and the work gains form that can grow into something meaningful.

Deliver

This is where ideas are brought forward with awareness and precision. Research is translated into clear, usable work, and each element is carried through with intention.
